Is it too late to say your sad America? When Ben Franklin explained the question of what kind of government was created, his answer was "a republic, if you can keep it". Deep, yes, and yet all the evidence suggests today that we have lost sight of what Ben Franklin said. When the government becomes selfishly counterproductive for the good of all, it ceases to be democratic. And as Ben Franklin said more than 250 years ago, "If you can keep it," our government has lost democracy over the past six decades. The challenges we face now seem almost insurmountable. Today we have a government run by selfish bureaucrats, such a divided nation and a society that is no longer the middle class. Is it any wonder that many think that America has really lost the way? We remembered a time when a cup of coffee was worth a penny and where the pride we had in keeping our sidewalks clear was as before. If you look around you will find that the cup of coffee in many places costs more than $ 3.00, and our sidewalks are, if you have more, like obstacle courses strewn with garbage.
Let us remember a time when the promise of fidelity was made before the beginning of each school day. This too has been surpassed and even ostracized. Today, it is as if we were deprived of the salutary goodness that was the norm 60 years ago. Many of us, the baby boomers, have now stolen their retirement pensions
our fathers had We are now struggling with the rising cost of living and the only safety net left. But our own government is determined to suppress it as well. So many of us are no longer able to keep up with the rising costs of health care and all the other costs required to survive our old age.
What can we say, if you have elected officials who make decisions that affect us all, do not realize the consequences of those decisions or are unaware of reality, this policy has aggravated the situation, it is time to realize that the states doing so has really come back People have been seeing disturbing trends in government for many years. The will of the people has long since fallen on deaf ears. And maybe they'll listen, we've become incoherent, which the government is doing to the public. We may be desensitized or too apathetic to really see or worry if government policy does not affect us. But all too often, what comes out of Washington has a negative impact.
When the world gets out of control, it does not help that this provocative rhetoric comes from the Trump administration. Whether in North Korea or in our own media, many of us have realized how much we have fallen out of favor with the rest of the world. They say that there is no going back. We have to go on. But with the impetus given by the Republicans and the Trump government, it is as if we are backing away.
